Personal: While Susan loves to travel—especially out of the country—her life revolves around family. She and husband, Joe, live in middle Tennessee. Their three adult children live in three different states. On any given Saturday—and some weeknights—Susan and Joe can be found with son James, and his wife, Araceli, at the soccer fields where James coaches the teams of their kids (José and David), and foster kids (Isaiah and Elijah), and often their niece and nephew as well. On Sundays and Wednesdays, you’ll find them at Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ where James serves as a deacon and a song leader and fill-in preacher for the Hispanic congregation there. Susan’s middle child, David, has practiced law for a number of years. Currently, he’s writing the dissertation for his second PhD while also continuing his career as a partner-track attorney in northern California. After securing two master’s degrees and a doctorate, Susan’s daughter, Jennifer Sallee, settled with her husband, Daniel, in Alabama where she is Federal Programs & Technology Administrator in the Athens school district. Like her mother, Jennifer isn’t satisfied with just one career so she has also started a web-based teacher-support company and a YouTube series in which she teaches English grammar. Unusual facts about Susan (that even some of her closest friends don’t know—or didn’t until now):
